Process for Obtaining an NFA Item
Before taking ownership of an NFA (National Firearms Act) item, it’s important to understand the process:

1. Choose Your Item
First, decide which NFA item you would like to purchase. Whether you’re interested in a suppressor, short-barreled rifle (SBR), or another item, we recommend doing research to find what best fits your needs.
Important: Once you start the tax stamp application, if you change your mind about the item, you must start the entire process over. Being confident in your choice is crucial.
2. Purchase the Item
Once you know what you want, call us or come in to make your purchase. If we don’t have the exact NFA item you want, we can either order it for you or suggest comparable alternatives.
Note: The item must be paid in full before moving forward, as the next steps require officially designating the purchaser and the specific item for the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) submission.
3. Fingerprinting
Before starting the electronic filing process, you’ll need to be fingerprinted. There are a few options depending on your time, budget, and convenience:
Option 1: Visit your local Sheriff’s Department to get fingerprinted for free. You will need to request two fingerprint cards. Let them know it is for an NFA application — they will be familiar with the process.
Option 2: Get electronic fingerprints done same-day in-store after full payment of your item.
COST: $100
Includes: An encrypted email copy and a flash drive with your fingerprint files, which can be reused for future NFA applications.
4. Electronic Filing
After fingerprinting, we will help you electronically file all necessary documents. This process is straightforward and typically takes about 30 minutes once all previous steps are complete.
Please Note:
This process must be repeated for every NFA item you purchase.
